This morning it was announced that Dean Henderson has pulled out of the England Euros squad, due to a hip injury which was limiting his movement and his ability to be involved in training with Southgate’s team.
Both Manchester United and England announced the news around 10:30am today as of writing (15th June 2021), seeing the once capped England international bow out of the Euro 2020 tournament without making an appearance for The Three Lions.
The Whitehaven born keeper had an impressive club season, arguably claiming the number one spot from the illustrious David De Gea by the end of the campaign. This positive debut season followed on from a loan spell at Sheffield United in the 2019/20 season, which saw him pull out performances that put him in contention as one of the better keepers in the Premier League. This led to many Manchester United fans, and even many England fans clambering for him to become England’s number one.
In the wake of his withdrawal from the England team, Henderson will undergo assessment and rehabilitation at Manchester United to help him come back fit for the 2021/22 season.
