It’s about time these officials were interviewed after the game just like managers. That includes a video link interview with the VAR ref. They just hide out of the way🤷♂️
Football has reached such a level of professionalism and a global audience that it's inconceivable to have random oligophrenics in charge of the rules. Look at the World Cup final: Di Maria got a penalty for blatantly diving and when a French player tried to do the same he got a yellow card. I bet that ref is still getting money to blow his whistle somewhere.
I said before VAR was introduced what would happen: contentious decisions would be simply be moved from the referee to some bloke sat in an office. It's actually worse than I thought it'd be because we now have the inconsistencies about when incidents are looked at by VAR on top of the inconsistencies with the decisions themselves. The only good thing about VAR is that it has cut down the amount of diving for penalties.
