On the topic of cruciate ligaments injuries. There was a young lad from Strabane, in co. Tyrone in Ireland, Adrian Doherty, who was supposedly better than giggs in the youth team in the early 90s. He was due to make his first team debut but tore his knee the week before. I read a good book on him called ‘Forever Young’. He was so highly rated by all those who played with him, some big names. He ended up just working factory jobs and fell into a canal in Amsterdam and died very young. So tragic
