I mean, for fecks sake, the manager has only been there two months and didn't even want to come half way through a season. He's had like just 7 training sessions and inherited players for multiple managers.

-Ugarte played the full 90 vs Liverpool and Arsenal, with a proper squad with quality depth you would of started the second choice midfield vs the 20th place team but the second choices have proven themselves unreliable so the other option is to try and get through with limited fitness levels.
-"The play hasn't changed that much" compared to Ten Hag, I think the players are so conservative in possession it invites pressure and puts them in low percentage passing situations deep in defense, they play it from defender to defender one side to the other, rarely skipping anyone along the way, it is just slow and doesn't stress the defense, they have to find the passes from defense to the midfield to force the defense to really move, switch the ball in one go from one side to the other and make the defense actually stress about the change in point of attack, it doesn't matter what formation you play, if you play the ball slowly from player to player across the formation that is never going to work. And then players wonder why nothing is opening up for them. It is players execution of pretty basic things holding United back at the moment. Things get stressful in a game and the get conservative thinking that is the right thing to do and all that does is make things harder for them.
