They definitely were already planning in the summer for a new manager.... the only reason they kept was the cup final win and most of the fans got carried away writing letters etc.... another interesting point is Amorim is a head coach and has no veto on transfers etc.... that tells you how this new structure intends to work, so ETH was never 100% safe
I am FC Porto supporter and all I can say is, Amorim will change MU completely if they let him work, the most players with low value today will be top class with him, if the players respect is ideas and believe his game play and work hard they will suprise you all. Keep the good work
Adam, I'll get you excited about this. Bruno Fernandes as one of the dual 10's is the perfect position for him. He gets all the creativity and scoring chances he had in Ole's counter attacking system without thinking he has to cover for everyone else on the pitch, which he had do in ten Hag's system (which in fairness, wasn't the finished article yet). Gyokeres thrived in Amorim's system...just imagine what Hojlund can achieve. Hojlund's conversion rate is spectacular, he just isn't getting the chances. Amorim's 3-4-3 is specifically built to create chances for the striker without sacrificing the rest of the team.
But here's the big one that I don't think people have realised - no overhaul required. We need one new player and that's a left back. That's it. We need to replace shaw. We have players who will naturally fit the 3-4-3 in every other position. So unlike previous managerial changes, there isn't a desperate need to overhaul the squad. For once, we actually have the players to suit the new manager...we just need that left back.
If the players can take what he wants to do on board quickly, I think we could end up going on a run and be close to the top four, if not already in it, by the time the Christmas/New Year group of games is over. I know, that's a bold claim but when I look at this squad and I look at how Sporting play, I think we could be on to a real winner here.
In fact, I'm gonna make a crazy prediction. If we can sort out the left back problem in January and avoid key injuries, by the time we get to March people are going to start asking if United have an outside shot at challenging. I'm not saying 21 is coming, but I'm not "not" saying it either....
