I'm a 63yr old lifelong united fan, had season ticket from 2006 to 2020, went to Moscow, Rome and Wembley multiple times following the team. Spent countless amounts travelling from Midlands to matches, named my only son after the Boss, put my pre 2006 club shares into MUST, etc etc. I find our ex players that painful to listen to, that when they are on tv I turn it off. Fed up with all of them making money out of talking down the club and team, the team i follow come what may, thick or thin, bad or good. Would be different if they paid the money fans pay to watch and support our club, we could be non league but nothing would ever get me to talk bad in public about Man Utd .
Remember Norman whiteside being asked what the biggest difference was in playing for united compared to playing for Everton and he said at Everton there could have been a 15 man punch up in training and no one would ever know about it but at united if Bryan Robson farted in training it would be in the newspapers the next day.
Criticism I get but it's not objective at all, it's sad to say that a lot of the analysis and punditry from United legends is just full of generalisations and cliche.
And don't get me wrong, united definitely deserve to be criticise, but it seems to be shallow criticism for the benefit of opposition fans.
I guess a part of it is also how other club legends analyse their clubs. They're much more like fans whereas United legend pundits are purely negative it seems.
What frustrates me about our ex players is the negativity, especially towards young players. Scholes going in on Yoro earlier in the season and Neville’s veiled criticism of Dorgu here. Youth is what this club is built on, they know it and say it, but don’t have the patience to actually give these players a chance
I'm so sick of Neville and the overlap crew at this point. It feels like every other day some quote comes out from one of them whingeing about something inconsequential.
Feel like some of the pundits need a season off and get away from football. Get some perspective on it all. Between them and the commentators trying to sound like philosophers it’s kind of ridiculous. Watching games on mute and skipping analysis is the way for me. We know what we are seeing, it’s not so good but some slow improvements and a long road ahead. Pundits expecting us to come out and be prime 08 over night and then baffled when we aren’t 🤷♂️
I love the looks of Dorgu as a player, he is still rough around the edges but, has fantastic potential.
