I think he spoke to Ten Hag and was told he wouldn't start every game so decided he wanted to leave using lack of CL football as an excuse, so fans wouldn't turn on him.

Last night I thought this was bad timing and bang out of order. But starting to think that unlike in the summer where he was trying to leave and unsettled the striker situation, at least now the club can prioritise a replacement in January over the course of the world cup
The circus started when fergie said that he should play every game forgetting that he's longer the manager!! Ronnie never respected Ralph even though Ralph called out every one at the board level and of course players followed him like sheep but now we have a manager who's the balls to drop anyone that's not playing well or following the game plan.
