Barca choosing Gordon over Rashford, as much as it's about salary, it's probably about work rate as well. Gordon hasn't the ceiling Rashford has.
But Rashford left partially because he gave up and stopped working on the pitch. If you don't see the red lights flashing in both those situations and get your work rate and hunger up, then he has bigger problems.
If Rashford becomes a squad player coming off the bench and starting the odd game, it would be harsh to blame him if we started losing. The narrative around him will start to change as his role changes. At the end of the day, he’s a homegrown lad and our squad is less reliant on him as a “star” player to carry the load for us to achieve our goals. He’s a player that needs structure to be at his best, and he’s coming back to the most stable United we’ve had for the past few years. It will benefit him greatly to have to compete for his place as well.
