Ste you've almost got it. Currency is no longer pegged to gold meaning central banks can just print currency units from thin air, known as currency debasement. This means there is an ever expanding amount of currency units chasing a limited supply of hard assets (property, gold). Things that we get better at making should reduce in relative price over time but our currency is broken as it is actually a unit of debt, not money. Wealthy people understand this which is why you cannot 'save' or your way to wealth as cash is debased something like 7-10% per year. The only thing better than an asset with a limited supply is an asset with a fixed supply, which is why BTC is the best performing asset of the last decade and is now being institutionalized.

The “middle class” is really just a term made up by rich people to divide working people. It’s a divide and conquer thing. The only two classes really are “people who work for a living” (workers) and “people who rake in profits from the hard work of their employees” (owners/bosses/capitalists/CEOs, call em what you want)

35:44 Ste, the simple answer is we used to tax the rich a lot more heavily. It reduced inequality and allowed working class people to be able to afford a house and a family on a single modest wage. Since then we've voted in more and more conservative governments (including some labour ones) who have added to poor-targeted taxes (VAT, council, road, stamp duty etc) and reduced rich-targeted taxes (inheritance, corporation, capital gains) and what we have is the result. Stark inequality.
