I don’t like talking about this but me and my brothers were some of the kids Rashford helped during covid. He made a massive difference to our lives and there are probably thousands of kids across the country that’ll say the same. So this just makes Simon Jordan’s comments all the more bizzare. Even if you take away everything Rashford’s ever done in football, he’ll still have had more of an impact in the “real world” than Simon Jordan’s entire family tree. And Rashford was doing this in his early 20s.
Reminds me of last years FA Cup Quarter Final when people on twitter genuinely believed that the ref shouldn't have given offside against Coventry because they were a much smaller team and getting to the semi final would have been 'massive for the club' 🤣
I keep hearing people say that we don’t have a style of play and really don’t understand why.
Man United’s style of play is clear to me. ETH wants to play a 4-2-4 formation without the ball, then quickly transitioning to either a 3-2-5 or 3-1-6 formation with the ball.
When it’s the 3-2-5, you’ll see one of the fullbacks step into midfield, therefore allowing one of our midfield players to join the attack.
If it’s the 3-1-6 (which will likely only be used against lesser opposition and low-block systems), you will see either both of our fullbacks go forward helping to stretch the pitch, or we’ll see one of our midfielders join the attack along with one fullback.
The system also includes having a high line of defence, so the front players can press the opposition high up the pitch, without leaving acres of space in the middle, just like we were seeing last season because unfortunately, we didn’t have defenders capable of playing it.
The signing of Ugarte was essential for us being able to play the 3-1-6 formation, because Casemiro doesn’t have the legs to do that job alone anymore, because the CDM basically needs to cover the ground of two midfielders, and the signings of Mattias De Ligt and Lenny Yoro were essential signings for allowing the team to play with high defensive line.
Personally, I think Casemiro may be used more as an 8 rather than a 6 this season once Ugarte has settled in, because let’s be honest he still excels when going forward.
Is everybody comfortable and do they completely understand the formation yet, NO THEY DON’T.
However, are we slowly seeing (realistic) progression throughout the team YES.
Dose everyone appear to be focused and reading from the same page YES.
That’s all we can realistically ask at this moment, now that our club has just started a TOP to BOTTOM rebuild, because we are finally starting to see a GENUINE foundation to build upon.
We are finally seeing exactly what we we’ve been asking for, so now it’s our turn as fans to be patient, to have faith in INEOS, to back the players we have, and to also back the manager and coaching staff.
Please people, stop throwing your toys out of the pram every time we drop points, because it achieves nothing, other than negativity and ammunition for rivals.
P.S. If anyone wants a better understanding of what ETH’s style of play is, STAT MAN DAVE made an excellent and in-depth video about the 4-2-4 aspect not that long ago, where he explains that part of the formation in far greater detail.
Honestly i wish Ex players would be more supportive of our team! Yes some criticism is warranted but hearing Scholes or Neville wax lyrical about Liverpool and City! They have developed this mentality where they just seem to like tearing down our players! When the world is against us it isn’t helpful to have our own legends against us as well

As a United fan since the 60's...... Whether we are on a winning run, or a losing one, United are always the biggest story in the media.

The main difference so far is the fact we have a mostly fit squad to pick a team from.
